Indie Siyensya Film Festival celebrates RSTW '25

Regional Science and Technology Week celebrates "Building Smart and Sustainable Communities" through the Indie Siyensya Film Festival, showcasing open and youth category student films at Philippine Science High School Gymnasium on September 3, 2025.

The Indie Siyensa Film Festival showcased several Indie films addressing a range of social topics, where most entries used science, technology, and innovation as tools to address these social problems.

Both elementary and high school students served as the target audience for the festival, with participants coming from schools in the Leyte and Tacloban City divisions:

Palo National High School

Pawing National High School

St. Mary's Academy of Palo

V&G National High School

Holy Infant College

Liceo Del Verbo Divino

Guindapunan High School

Philippine Science High School EVC

Moreover, the film festival opened with the screening of five films in the open category, followed by a question-and-answer session with the audience.

Eksmen

Herbolaryo

Kalasag ng Tubod

Through Each Thread

Meanwhile, the youth category consists of the following films:

Decadent Bitterness

Gakit, The Journey of Change

Gangis

KaLikhasan

Nganga

After the film screenings, video lessons produced by DOST teams were presented to the audience, which covered topics on stars, cells, cell division, cell replication, and earthquake preparedness.

A final question-and-answer session marked the conclusion of the Indie Siyensya Film Festival.
